OLD MEADOW ROAD PRIMARY BATHROOM & LAUNDRY ROOM

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The first item on the renovation “to do” list for this sweet young couple was to create a spacious and luxurious primary ensuite.  The existing primary bathroom was small and not very functional.  Rather than take space from the primary bedroom, we took space from the adjacent guest bedroom.  The room was large and we were able to take only a portion of it, leaving a full bedroom rather than eliminating an entire room.

We collaborated with Coleman Creative to design a luxurious spa-like bathroom that would feel like a retreat.  We created space large enough for a soaking tub, a spacious walk-in shower, and a long double vanity.  A separate water closet provides privacy and added function.  The alder wood vanity adds  natural warmth to compliment the wallpaper.  The wallpaper pattern is a large floral print by GP&J Baker that adds a moody and playful botanical backdrop against the warm alder vanity.  The large vanity is topped with a crisp white quartz by MSI and the wall mounted sink faucets allow for a large amount of long, uninterrupted counter space.  A ThermoSoft electric heating system was installed under the deep blue porcelain hexagon floor tiles providing luxurious warmth year round.

A modular interlocking shower surround system made up of porcelain panels allowed us to create a smooth and seamless shower.  Full sized 4’x8’ panels were brought onsite and fabricated to size before being installed.  The lightweight panels sis a product called Synthesis by Mont Granite.  We worked closely with the team at Mont Granite to perfect the install as this was the first Pittsburgh install of this type!

Lastly, we used the old primary bathroom space to create a convenient laundry room just off the primary bedroom.  A stacked washer and dryer allows for extra space for hanging clothes along the back wall and a small but functional countertop runs along the side wall and even includes a small sink.  As new parents to a little one, these homeowners are happy to have convenient access to laundry!
